Sandy Baril

Sandy Baril

Registered Physiotherapist, B.Sc.PT, Fellow of the Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT)

I started my career in 1998 during my undergrad years as an on-field sports trainer for Rugby, Hockey, Football, Volleyball to name a few. My first years of work were in acute care such as ICU, trauma, cardio-thoracic and orthopedic post-operative care where collaborative work is key in helping people return home safely.

In 2005 I moved to the East Coast to pursue private practice and expand my skill set through my Advanced Manipulative Physiotherapy Diploma, a rigorous training to perfect my hands-on approach. In 2009, I travelled as a Physiotherapist with Cirque du Soleil, an opportunity to test the acquired knowledge on elite athletes, help them maintain, perform and reach their physical potential. This experience ignited my love for the Arts; combining knowledge and beautiful movements together. Prevention is key to help you through the demands of training as well as guidance to understanding of what has been looming over time to move through the next event or performance.

I hold space for each client and know how to motivate to get you to the next step, getting you closer to your limit to allow breakthroughs to reach your goals. I believe every person has the right to the best professional care. I love people and their stories. I have extensive training in core strength, movement analysis, exercise load management with an innate ability to solve and link the body from top to bottom and inward and outward. If you want to know more, check out my website at SandyBarilPhysio.ca.

My curiosity keeps me looking for answers because growth is key to improvement. Each movement, each exercise demand requires a breakdown of multiple steps within each individual person to succeed in getting you back to your art, your passions and your life.

I keep myself grounded through my yoga and Pilates practice. I love to dance Salsa and hike the beautiful mountains of Vancouver Island! I have travelled the world, worked from Coast to Coast with clients of all ages, all ethnicities with inclusivity and all levels of activity blending acute injuries to chronic persistent dysfunction using a holistic approach. I will kindly ask the hard questions and help you visualize your best self.

I am happy to join the VAB team and thank you for letting me be a part of your journey.
