Under the direction of Bleiddyn del Villar Bellis, VAB offers specialized dance instruction of the highest caliber. Students of all ages and abilities (children ages 3 through to professional level) are trained to their fullest potential by VAB’s experienced faculty. Our Post-Secondary Bridge Program holds designation status with the BC Ministry of Advanced Education, Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) as well as Education Quality Assurance (EQA) status.

∙ THE POSITION ∙
VAB’s Artistic Coordinator acts as the glue that links departments within the school. Responsible for the coordination of all student-focused events, this position is directly linked with Artistic faculty, students, and the administrative team. While handling the day-to-day administrative needs of the academy, this role sets a warm, welcoming, and professional tone for the school.
Our ideal candidate is skilled at multi-tasking in a busy school environment and has the ability to work successfully in group initiatives, while also displaying strong self-direction.
∙ RESPONSIBILTIES ∙
- Coordinate and execute the logistics of school events/ activities
- Make travel arrangements for staff, students, and special guests
- Assist in the planning, procurement, and cataloguing of costumes
- Act as initial point of contact for students, parents, staff, renters, and guests
- Manage general school communication such as phone calls/ voice mail, emails and notices
- Resolve general queries and questions, consulting with appropriate staff members as necessary
- Assist with student data entry, attendance protocol and emergency documentation
- Circulate and post daily and weekly schedules
- Receive, sort, and distribute deliveries and incoming mail
- Keep reception/ lobby area neat and orderly
- Use first aid certification to attend to unwell students
- Communicate on behalf of the Director to build and maintain professional relationships
- Help to manage the Director’s calendar by arranging meetings, appointments, etc
- Assist with special projects as they arise
- Any additional duties as may reasonably be required, and that fall under the scope and range of the position
∙ SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS ∙
- Minimum of 2 years general administration experience
- A knowledge of dance and the arts – preference given to those with previous dance experience
- Flexibility in working hours
- Availability on evenings/ weekends for special events
- Comfortable providing leadership role within school environment
- Certified in first aid, or willingness to gain certification
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines in a busy environment
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive or private information
- A ‘self-starter’ mentality, getting things done before others recognize the need
