What We Need

We are seeking a full-time permanent Student Services Lead who cares deeply about supporting the health and well-being of talented dancers and providing them with high quality and responsive care through the oversight of a meaningful homestay program. The successful candidate will thrive at building relationships, providing effective advisory student services, assessing and completing homestay placements, and supporting students and host families with any issues that may arise

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Academy Director, the Student Services Lead thrives at overseeing all aspects of homestay and living arrangements for dancers. This includes establishing and nurturing a homestay family network, overseeing the processing of all necessary paperwork, effectively placing students, regularly checking in with students and homestay families, and overseeing interim accommodation and alternative independent living arrangements. The role is responsible to support students with any life, health or safety needs including overseeing student personal and educational travel, providing orientation to Victoria, and supporting students with establishing the appropriate academic supports, transportation, banking, and access to required medical and social service professionals. Translation skills in Japanese would be an asset. Overseeing all aspects of the student experience requires impeccable relationship management, organization and coordination skills, and initiative. This position is a key member of the leadership team and works closely with the Artistic Leads, Admissions Lead and Academic Liaison.

What You Bring

  • Background in education or counselling an asset
  • A minimum of three years’ experience with international student services and placements
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills
  • Skilled in client and relationship management with a commitment to quality service
  • A high degree of tact and professionalism to manage sensitive or private information
  • Ability to prioritize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • A self-starter who can work independently and loves accomplishing results
  • Knowledge or experience in dance
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Standard first aid or willingness to become certified
  • Proof of COVID 19 vaccination
  • Occasional ability to work evenings and weekends
