General Program:
LEVEL 1
About Level 1.
Ages 7-8
Level 1 begins our General Program and focuses on learning correct body alignment, further developing musicality and rhythm, and increasing strength, flexibility, and balance. Students are evaluated through observation, checking for understanding, in-class activities to demonstrate learning, and discussion. A more formal approach and technical structure is applied to classes as the students mature and gain technical prowess. Our Level 1 classes run September to June.
Students in Level 1 must take the Base Program ballet in order to be eligible to take the following Add-On Classes:
Level 1 Add-On Classes:
Jazz: Students may choose to add the Level 1 Jazz class, which expands their dance vocabulary and accelerates rhythm and expression.
Ballet/Jazz Combo: New to the 2021-22 dance season are our Ballet/Jazz Combo classes. Students at the Level 1 age are eligible to take our Ballet/Jazz Combo class (ages 6-7). This 45 minutes class will be a fun, fast-paced combo class. Students will begin with 20-25 minutes of ballet, followed by 20-25 minutes of jazz.
