SENIOR OPEN DIVISION

OVERVIEW

Senior Open Division classes focus on strong ballet technique as students mature and advance through their dance training. Students are evaluated through observation, checking for understanding, in-class activities to demonstrate learning, and discussion.

Students in Senior Open Division must take the three Base Program ballet classes in order to be eligible to take the following add-on classes.

SENIOR OPEN DIVISION ADD-ON CLASSES

JAZZ

Students may choose to add the Senior Open Division Jazz class, which expands their dance vocabulary and further develops rhythm and expression. This class is a performance class.

CONTEMPORARY

Students are able to take contemporary, which is a great addition to further their ballet training. Contemporary techniques focus on release, breath, and a more mature self expression. This is a performance class.

SENIOR YOUTH COMPANY

Students taking the Senior Open Division Base Program classes are eligible to audition for our Youth Company. VAB’s Youth Company is for dedicated students looking to accelerate their training and join a team of like-minded peers. Youth Company members have class once a week on Saturday afternoons where they learn choreography for local performances and events. Students get the opportunity to participate in festivals, parades, holiday parties, workshops, and a dance photoshoot. Members also receive an exclusive Youth Company tracksuit. Acceptance into Youth Company is by audition which will take place in the fall, following the start of our Open Division classes.To inquire about Youth Company, please reach out to youthcompany@vaballet.ca.

Host Families provide a caring and supportive environment, while receiving monthly remuneration and experiencing the dance world first-hand. Fees for the months of September and June, as well as the Registration Fee are due at the time of registration. The remaining month's payments (October through to May) are charged on the 1st of each month.

Tuition is due in full at the time of registration. However, in an attempt to make tuition payments more convenient for families, VAB parents or students are eligible to arrange a monthly payment option with the school. These monthly payments are equally spread across 10 months, regardless of how many classes there are in each month. These payment methods are available only to families whose accounts are in good standing and who do not have a history of missed or NSF payments. Tuition owing from previous years or terms are payable before registration is permitted for the following year or before student can continue in the second term. You are not fully registered until payment has been set in place. This means a lump sum payment has been processed, monthly post-dated cheques or Pre-Authorized Debit has been submitted/set-up, and the post-dated payment for Recital Package fee has been submitted. Sibling Discount

*In order to be eligible for the Sibling Discount, multiple siblings must be enrolled in the current season. You will receive 10% off the sibling with the lesser tuition amount.

Students will receive a High-Definition link of the 2025 CELEBRATION OF DANCE Recital, a commemorative VAB T-Shirt and purchase of their recital costume. Additional costume fees will apply to students enrolled in optional add-on performance classes.
